Serving is one of the ways we live out our faith together at Northbrook UMC. It’s how we seek connection, serve with purpose, and support one another as a community. Whether you enjoy welcoming others, working behind the scenes, or sharing your gifts in new ways, there’s a place for you here and a way your presence makes a difference.

At Northbrook UMC, serving together is less about filling roles and more about showing up for one another. When we pitch in side by side, it doesn’t feel like work. It feels like family doing life together.

You don’t have to commit forever. We invite you to try a team and see where you feel at home. Sometimes it takes one Sunday. Sometimes it takes a few. Either way, you belong here.

Try A Team

Our Teams

Help lead worship through scripture, prayer, and spoken responses. Liturgists help shape the flow of worship and invite the congregation into the service.

Offer a warm welcome and steady presence on Sunday mornings. Ushers help support the flow of worship and assist the congregation as needed throughout the service.

Growing in Faith

Walk alongside children and youth as they explore faith, questions, and belonging. Growing in Faith volunteers help create a safe, welcoming space where curiosity is encouraged and relationships matter.

Help make room for conversation and connection after worship. This team supports coffee fellowship and helps turn Sundays into shared time together.

Run slides and visuals during worship. This behind-the-scenes role helps guide the service and supports accessibility and flow.

Share what’s happening in the life of the church during worship. This role helps keep our community informed and connected week to week.

Hold space for prayer before, during, and/or after worship. This team supports our congregation through listening, care, and faithful presence.

Use your musical gifts to enrich worship through choir, instrumental music, or special performances. Musicians help create meaningful and reflective worship experiences.

Help lead worship by sharing reflections or sermons alongside our pastoral team. This role supports shared leadership and brings diverse voices into worship.
