PRIDE MONTH AND PARADE

June is the annual Pride month in Chicago.  For many years NUMC has been walking in the Parade with a group of religious institutions.  This year will be no different.  The parade is on June 30th.  Watch this site for further details as to the name of the organization and where we will meet.

Upcoming RAIN related events (Racial Awareness in the Northshore):

Monday, July 22nd — Judith Levi will talk about our multiple identities and how they both Divide and Unite us. 7-8:30 in Pollak Room of Northbrook Public Library.

Thursday, July 25th – Community Conversations about Northbrook and the American Creed. Join local community representatives (including Village President, Sandy Frum, and Historical Society President, Judy Hughes) to discuss Northbrook’s past, present and future – and how we can all get involved. 7-8:30 in Pollak Room of Northbrook Public Library.

All of July has events at the Northbrook Public Library centering on the One Book / One Northbrook initiative – read Trevor Noah’s book, Born a Crime. A memoir about his years in South Africa and his experience of being bi-racial in a society where it was a crime to have black/ white marriages.
