Prayer—speaking and listening with God, it’s something we try to do, but I don’t believe any one can really teach us how to do. I think it may look and feel different for each one of us. Sure, we can teach ways and means of praying, but to know what is in your heart, what is your soul’s desire, that you sit with and pray with in the presence of God. A spiritual teacher once told me that my stroking my daughter’s head each morning, saying Good Morning to her, that is my prayer practice. Temma is not God. But there is something about her very bare and vulnerable being (Temma lives with severe and profound disabilities) that brings me in touch with my own heart and the heart of bare and vulnerable love that is God. What is your prayer practice?

“For this reason, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful in what it can achieve.” James 5:16
