A resolute calm, relentless,
that is the word. Some will question
Why? And the question sent back,
Why? Why are you here? This is a beauty,
Marked. The cheek
a hue of shade. The view,
Askance. And, the hair, showing glints of
Light, wisdom seen from above. The nose,
a hint of marble, throwing back
the light. All is well. We know that now.
We asked the question in our worship service last Sunday, “Who are the poor in our lives?” The poor, the ones, as James writes, are where God is especially found? One of Temma’s many caregivers over her years, said, after spending three years caring for and being with Temma, “Temma will be my salvation.” Salvation meaning transformation by God’s grace into the more of the person God created me to be.
James 2:5 “Listen, my brothers and sisters, has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?”
