A big breath of the Holy Spirit, all together, and we are on our way into a new season of Pentecost God sends Jesus to show the depths of love; Jesus returns to God and sends the Holy Spirit to teach us everything about becoming the body of Christ in the world. We are “it” now in God’s great game of Tag! You and I are free to choose breathing in the Holy Spirit and embodying the kingdom of God, or not. I’ve been meditating on freedom. At times I breathe in the belief and teaching that to be free I must rid myself of all that can feel restrictive or too much work or that I’m not good enough to be that free—like ridding myself of certain people or places or even a vow or commitment I have made. How do we discern that what we are breathing is the freedom air of the Holy Spirit, or the false freedom air of self-improvement, personal rights, and being afraid? Part of it, I believe, is the gathering together, listening and breathing, and praying with others. What are your thoughts on that discernment about the air we breathe?
“…when the Spirit of Truth comes, [she] will guide you in all truth.…the Spirit takes what is mine and will proclaim it to you.” John 15:13, 15
