John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.”

What am I feeding my soul on? As I write this I’m seeing two squirrels outside the window, searching, eating, and digging holes to store some nut or seed. Jesus identifies himself as the bread of life. The first hearers of his statement are reminded of the bread from heaven their ancestors ate, called manna. There was no storing up, no saving or hoarding of manna, no leftovers for the next day, or the winter, like the squirrels are doing. Only the daily bread. Needing to trust that the daily supply would come again the next day. What am I eating today that will feed my soul, my identity? I want some Jesus Bread. Where do I find it? Is it the very longing and searching that is the bread? Give us this day our daily bread. Please Jesus, give me some of you to eat today so that I will not die, so my soul will not starve, so that I will have enough of you, enough of me to share with whomever I meet.    Pastor Sherrie
