April 4 Edevotional

The Psalm for this Sunday reads, “How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down…” Psalm 133:1, 2
It is like the unnamed woman crashing the dinner party where Jesus is at the table. She must have gone under the table to wash Jesus’ feet with precious oil. What kind of unity is this? Do we know this kind of unity? This kind of love? We are going to be talking about the imagery in the movie, “The Black Panther” this Sunday, beginning our new sermon series, The Oscars Meet the Kingdom.” Unity is hard fought for in this movie. In the end the people from the advanced country called Waukanda, realize that their unity lies beyond the boundaries of their nation that they have fought so hard to defend. The unity that we begin life with as infant and parent. The unity where there is no boundary between self and other. There is a hunger deep within for that kind of unity, resurrection life. “It is like the dew that falls on the mountains. For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore.” Psalm 133:3
